Mini Cornish Escapes 04

This piece was inspired by a photo I took from the cliffs at Bedruthan Steps in Cornwall. Standing on the edge, looking down at the water below, was such a peaceful moment. I wanted to capture that feeling in paint. The textured flowers in the foreground bring a touch of softness and contrast to the rugged coastline. 

This mini series began as a way to reconnect with creativity after spending time on commissions. I wanted to paint purely for the joy of it, no plans, no reference photos, just creating from memory and imagination. Each piece is inspired by Cornwall, the colours of the coast, and the textures of sand, rock, and sea.

These paintings were made intuitively, by how I felt in the moment rather than any set idea. They capture that sense of freedom and calm that Cornwall always gives, the space to breathe and create.
